Nissan Navara Drivers Door Not Locking

I have removed the drivers side seat in order to remove some of the door trim to get at the locking mechanism.

The drivers side door fails to lock when the remote key is pressed. I bought a new nissan door assembly unit and it appears to be not moving freely. It is jammed and i cant open it using the key door handles from inside or outside. Kinda figured that as the d40 only gets 1 door lock with akey hole and its not the drivers door lol has it got genuine remote central locking. I can hear the actuator operating in the door lock assembly but not actually locking the door. But this is also very difficult. If i press the central locking fob it locks all door apart from the drivers it arms the alarm and if i return to the vehicle after a minute pull the handle on the driver side door it opens and the alarm goes off any help appreciated pete.
